CarriersEdge Adds New Training Course on Road Rage for Truck Drivers

NEWMARKET, Ontario, August 30, 2024 - CarriersEdge, a leading provider of online driver training for the trucking industry, has added a new training course on road rage to its library of online training course for truck drivers.

The new course, “Road Rage,” defines road rage and explains its consequences, triggers, and prevention strategies. It also explains how drivers can manage road rage using calming strategies, cooperative driving, and de-escalation techniques.

Studies have shown that most drivers experience incidents that can trigger an angry emotional response and/or result in aggressive driving behavior. Facts back that up. According to the latest survey by AAA, 80% of drivers expressed significant anger, aggression, or road rage behind the wheel at least once in the previous 30 days. What’s more, in 2023, 92% of people witnessed an act of road rage in the past year, according to insurance finder, The Zebra.

“While it’s less likely a commercial truck driver will act on a road rage trigger and engage in unsafe driving behavior or confront another driver, it does still happen. It’s important for all drivers to understand road rage and its consequences,” said Jane Jazrawy, CarriersEdge CEO. “Drivers also need to learn what they can do to diffuse a heated situation if another driver experiences road rage so they can stay safe. This course covers everything drivers need to know about the topic.”

Following the completion of “Road Rage,” drivers will be able to:

  • Describe the four ways people express road rage
  • Explain the consequences of road rage for you and your carrier
  • List common road rage triggers and prevention strategies
  • Explain strategies to prevent road rage
  • Explain three cooperative driving principles
  • Describe methods to de-escalate another driver's road rage

“Road Rage” is now available to customers at no extra charge, as part of the CarriersEdge subscription service. There are nearly 200 titles in the CarriersEdge monthly subscription package, with new and updated titles added regularly. Courses are offered as full-length orientation, short refresher and remedial titles, and as standalone knowledge tests.
